Fictional/Familiar at Swarm Gallery |
This sculpture was inspired by the post at the center of Swarm Gallery. I was interested in breaking the architectural and environmental planes of two dimensional space into a human-scale sculpture that shifts as the viewer moves throughout the gallery. The sculpture addresses the juncture between a personal, intimate relationship to space and the larger, more constant world of architecture and nature.

Pro Arts 2 x 2 Solos |
My Pro Arts 2 x 2 Solos show included two works - a sculpture and a book. The sculpture came out of a desire to make the space of a collage 3 dimensional and life size. In this piece I wanted to operate the entire gallery space by shifting the walls and opening them up. The book is a series of works from this same exploration.

Space, Time, and Architecture at Royal Nonesuch Gallery |
Space, Time and Architecture is a show that I did with Luca Antonucci at Royal Nonesuch Gallery in Oakland. Brought together by the gallery, Luca and I found that our work was already having a conversation and used that as a starting point for this show.

S.H.E.D. Projects: House Show |
As part of the S.H.E.D. Projects House Show in Oakland, I projected an abstract portal image onto the front door. The piece is activated as people walk in and out the front door.

I think this is going somewhere |
Video projection at Queen's Nails Gallery using the architectural features of the room as collage elements in the piece. The piece explores the relationship between a smaller video/moviing hill imposed on still California hills.

Placemakers at the Bemis Center |
In this piece, there are 4 main projections of reconstructed natural environment spaces onto different (but slightly overlapping) sections of the room. The projections interact with the architecture to create a third space. There are also 2 additional projections of a video of a person walking into and back out of the space. The room shifts over time as each image is projected for approximately 20 seconds.

Space Shuttle at Krowswork |
Video footage from space shuttle launch I witnessed in Florida in 2007 is projected onto a corner ceiling. The video and the architecture transform each other becoming a piece about drawing, space and time.

Untitled (Bat) at The Lab |
Video of a bat that lived in an empty room at the Bemis Center in Omaha projected onto the ceiling at the Lab. The ceiling of the Lab seemed like the natural home for it here in San Francisco - so I set it free (or trapped it) by projecting it into a new time, a new architecture, a new set of rules.

Untitled (Shifting Headlands) at Roxie |
I transformed the Roxie window on Valencia St into a new, constructed space redefined by painting the window and projecting a slideshow of brightly colored, altered images of the Headlands.

The Last Resort at Krowswork Gallery |
This video came out of my residency in Florida where I was exploring the immediate area and discovered that the bar frequented by Aileen Wuornos (of Monster fame) was nearby...
